Carlisle 10k incorporating the Stephen Unwin memorial trophy

The very first Carlisle 10k Run took place on the 30th August 2009.

More than 400 runners of varying abilities, from elite athletes to part-time
joggers, took part in the very first Carlisle 10k, with many runners taking part to
raise funds for local charities.

The winner in the men’s race was Peter Newton from Newcastle, whilst second went to Russell Maddams of Workington. The first woman home was Claire McKeown of Penrith.
